The 2025 Maldives National Bodyboarding League (MNBL) has been a season of relent, rising stars, and fierce rivalries, and it now culminates in the most anticipated Maldivian bodyboarding event of the year: the National Bandufilaa Challenge 2025. Set to run from November 18 to November 22, 2025, at the iconic Varunulaa Raalhugandu in Malé City, this five-day tournament promises to be the pinnacle challenge of the season for the nation’s top bodyboarders.
Season Highlights Leading to the Finale
The season kicked off with the Burunu Shikaaru Challenge, where Aamin Umar Moosa stunned the field to claim a thrilling Men’s Open victory over veteran Ali Khushruwan (Kuda Ayya), while Kuda Ayya secured the Dropknee title. The mid-season event, Labera Challenge saw Aamin continue his impressive run in the Men’s Open, solidifying his league lead, while Kuda Ayya once again dominated the Dropknee division. In the Junior Men’s category, Burunu Shikaaru winner Eyan Ahmed and Labera winner Mohamed Azaan Ahmed set the pace for emerging talent, each claiming victories that put them on the radar for the season finale.
What’s at Stake: The National Bandufilaa Challenge
Now, the stage is set for the National Bandufilaa Challenge, where divisions we’ve seen all season, Men’s Open, Junior Men, Dropknee will conclude their battles, and returning divisions such as the Women’s Open and Masters will make their mark. Competitors will vie for the event titles of their respective divisions, the outcomes of which will directly contribute points toward the coveted prize—the 2025 League Championships. With the season’s storylines peaking, spectators can expect intense heats, technical mastery, and the kind of ocean-powered spectacles that only Maldivian bodyboarding can deliver.
