Maldives Gears Up for the 2025 Aquathlon Championship!

You know the season is about to hit its peak when the Maldives starts pulling out the big guns and this time, it’s the Maldives Aquathlon Championship 2025. Set to bring together athletes from across the country, and potentially internationally, this two-day multi-sport event combines open-water swimming and running within the stunning backdrop of Maafushi Island. Organized by Swim Maldives in collaboration with Kaani Hotels and Tours as the official accommodation partner, it promises to be one of the biggest aquathlon gatherings in the Maldives, celebrating both sports excellence and the pristine island vibes the Maldives is famous for. Event Dates and Location

• Dates: Friday, October 31 – Saturday, November 1, 2025

• Location: Maafushi Island, Male’ Atoll, Maldives

• Official Hotel & Venue: Kaani Palm Beach Hotel

A mandatory race briefing for all participants will be held on Thursday, October 30, at the Kasthoori Maalam conference facility inside the Kaani Palm Beach Hotel.

Race Structure and Categories

The championship will be held over two days, with individual races on the first day and team relays on the second.

Day 1: Individual Races (October 31)

• Elite Category (Men/Women): 1 km open-water swim followed by a 5 km run. This is where the most competitive athletes show off their skills.

• Sprint Category (Boys/Girls): 500 m swim followed by a 2.5 km run. Designed for junior athletes aged 15 and under, with podium spots up for grabs.

• Discover Aquathlon (Kids & Beginners): 200 m swim or sea walk followed by a 500 m run. Perfect for first-timers and younger participants, this one’s all about enjoying the experience.

Day 2: Team Relays (November 1)

The second day is all about teamwork and fun. Teams of two, with one swimmer and one runner where they will compete in both Elite and Sprint distances. There’s also a Discover Aquathlon relay, giving families a chance to race together and soak in the beachside atmosphere.

All swim starts and transitions (T1) happen on the beach. Athletes store their running gear in assigned boxes beforehand, then switch into it after finishing the swim before taking off for the run. It’s smooth, organized, and ensures every racer gets the full experience from water to sand.

Registration and Accommodation

Registration: The championship is open for registration until October 15, 2025 via the Swim Maldives official event page.
