The waves beckon for a challenge once again and the Maldives answers. Following its impactful return last year, the Labera Bodyboarding Challenge is back for its 4th edition, set to take place from 5th to 8th August 2025 at the iconic Varunulaa Raalhugandu, Malé City.
Organized under the Maldives Bodyboarding Association (MBBA), the Labera Series stands as a core highlight in the Maldives’ national bodyboarding league, drawing the country's top riders to battle it out at the capital’s most renowned surf break.
Expanding Divisions for the Rising Scene
This year’s event will feature competitions across three dynamic divisions:
Men’s Open
Junior Men
Dropknee
Each category brings a fierce level of competition, highlighting both seasoned athletes and emerging young talents who represent the next wave of Maldivian bodyboarding.
A Surf Arena Steeped in Culture
Varunulaa Raalhugandu is not just a surf spot — it’s a cultural landmark for Malé’s surfing and bodyboarding community. With its powerful reef breaks and urban shoreline backdrop, it sets the perfect arena for a showdown that celebrates the grit, style, and athleticism that Labera embodies.
With registrations closed on July 26th, the final countdown begins. At String Travel, we’re ready for what promises to be an absolute banger of an event this year.
